PROJECTS

By attending our workshops, you can help us sustaining two projects in two different ways:

1. DONATION OF A SELECTION OF YOUR PHOTOS

A selection of your photos will be donated to:

Bimbache openART / Asociación Bimbache P.O.C.S.  registered as non-profit and non-government organization dedicated to sustainable ecological, technological and socio-cultural development.

Members and associates include leading artists, scientists, thinkers, representatives of different spiritual traditions, politicians, organizations of disabled persons and others around the world.

Bimbache openART is recommended by UNESCO de Canarias and has been presented at EXPO 2008, KLIMAFORUM09 Copenhagen, Credle2Cradle Festival Berlin and Hamburg, European Green Capital 2011.

Once a year they create a music festival in El Hierro. Artists from different places come, live and work together with people from the island. Their purpose is to connect professionals, community-based artists, students and regular people in a live-and-learn experience so as to investigate sustainable possibilities of music and arts as a vehicle for social activism and civic engagement.
The annual BIMBACHE openART summer laboratory and global academy offers open spaces, interdisciplinary round tables (tagoror), workshops and courses designed not only to improve technical skills but also to increase the understanding of people. Their intention is to illuminate various ways in which artists and others can define and support their own course of creative activism and shape their own personal strategies for progressive social change.

Your photos will be used as a documentation of the island and projected on a big screen during the annual music festival.

2. ECONOMIC SUSTAIN

1% of the Workshop expenses will be donated to

Global Nature Fund which is a non-profit, private, independent international foundation for the protection of environment and nature that works in collaboration with the council of El Hierro.

They have started few projects to preserve some of the forest ecosystems as well as activities of new reforestation.

Other complementary actions include removing invasive species (such as canes, cactus etc), cleaning of trails and water pipes, cleaning of marine and coastal waters.
